Earlier on Tuesday, Patil alleged that former Pune police commissioner Amitabh Gupta and then deputy commissioner of police at cyber cell Bhagyashri Navtake were involved in bitcoin embezzlement.

Nationalist Congress Party leader (Sharadchandra Pawar) and Baramati Member of Parliament (MP) Supriya Sule has denied former IPS officer Ravindranath Patil’s allegations that she along with Congress leader Nana Patole embezzled bitcoins from the 2018 cryptocurrency fraud case and used them to finance Maharashtra assembly polls.

Earlier on Tuesday, Patil alleged that former Pune police commissioner Amitabh Gupta and then deputy police commissioner of cyber cell Bhagyashri Navtake were involved in embezzling bitcoins, which were used by Sule and Patole to fund the Maharashtra polls.

Following Patil’s allegations, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national spokesperson Sudhanshu Trivedi said, “This is a very serious allegation. Facts have come to light that, little by little, reveal the true face of the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA). In my opinion, this raises a serious question about how free and fair elections are conducted.”

The night before the elections, Sule called it “a well-known tactic to spread false information to manipulate righteous voters.”

Sule also sent a complaint to the Election Commission of India and the Maharashtra Cyber Crime Department against what she called the false allegations of misappropriation of bitcoin. Her complaint is against Patil and Gaurav Mehta, who were witnesses in the 2018 case.

“The intentions and the rogue actors behind them are obvious and worthy of condemnation that such practices are taking place in a healthy democracy guided by the Constitution of India,” she said.
