play

Fantasy football managers, rejoice. The first “Byemageddon” is behind us, and it will be easier to make important decisions during the launch and execution of decisions. Thanksgiving weekwhen all 32 of the NFL’s teams will be in action.

Of course, there will be plenty of quality streaming options on the waiver wire as well Week 13 due to the lack of byes. That will leave fantasy owners with some tough decisions about who to keep on their roster and who to release.

Players like it Jonathon Brooks have remained on fantasy rosters most of the time 2024 NFL seasonso it may seem strange to consider releasing him after he finally made his long-awaited debut. The same can be said Audric Etimewhich was just a popular addition to the spacer thread a few weeks ago.

But managing a fantasy roster requires a certain amount of ruthlessness, and those hoping to make playoff runs will have to make some tough decisions in order to win a championship.

Here’s a look at five players to watch Week 12 of the fantasy football season, including some touted draft picks that didn’t live up to the hype.

Waiver wire players dropped: week 12

Brooks made his long-awaited NFL debut in Week 12. It wasn’t the explosive outing many fans and fantasy owners had hoped for.

Brooks had just two carries in his first game with the Panthers. He turned those totes into 7 yards and he didn’t record a reception. Relatively, Chuba Hubbard had 17 touches for 60 yards, and Carolina trusted him late to score a tying touchdown and two-point conversion combination.

The Panthers could increase Brooks’ role as the season progresses, but they could also look to develop him heading into next season. That could mean Hubbard remains entrenched as the team’s No. 1 while Brooks gets a chance to get his feet wet. If the latter scenario plays out, Brooks will be nothing more than a high-headed handcuff.

For the second week in a row, Mostert was surpassed De’Von Achane and newcomer Jaylen Wright in a Dolphins win. His demotion to the third tier has unsurprisingly been accompanied by a drop in production, as Mostert has managed just eight touches for 34 yards in his last three appearances.

Fantasy managers with Achane can safely use Mostert as a sturdy handcuff. But it’s becoming increasingly clear to everyone else that Mostert doesn’t have much fantasy value.

It looked like Estime emerged as Denver’s lead as he handled a career-high 14 carries and generated 53 rushing yards against the The heads of Kansas City in Week 10. Since then, he has recorded just eight combined carries and has been beaten by both Javonte Williams And Jaleel McLaughlin against the Las Vegas Raiders.

Sean Payton seems content to take a quick approach at running back, allowing the rookie to post some quality stats. At the same time, it will be difficult to predict when he will make those big forays, so he doesn’t think he will be a big fantasy asset down the road.

Slayton established himself as Daniel Jonesfavorite downfield threat through the first three months of the 2024 NFL season. Slayton didn’t seem to have the same chemistry Tommy DeVitowho targeted him only twice during New York 30-7 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Slayton couldn’t log a reception with DeVito at quarterback and appears to be behind Malik Nabers and threats from the middle of the field Wan’Dale Robinson And Theo Johnson in the Giants’ pecking order. Maybe Drew Slot would have better luck connecting with Slayton on some deep passes, but as long as DeVito starts, Slayton could be written off as wire feed.

Schultz was a strong tight end in fantasy football during the era C.J. Stroud‘s rookie season. That wasn’t implemented in 2024, and now it looks like that rookie Cade Stover could take some of the TE1 work away from Schultz.

Below you can see the statistical lines of Schultz and Stover respectively against the Tennessee titans:

  • Schultz: 2 targets, 2 catches, 20 yards, 0 touchowns
  • Stover: 4 targets, 3 catches, 26 yards, 1 TD

Even though Stover’s game was a once-in-a-lifetime performance, Schultz still doesn’t get many opportunities. Stroud has preferred to target his wide receivers, such as Nico Collins And Tank Dellthis season. Unless that changes, Schultz will remain difficult to trust, so fantasy owners should feel free to look for a player with a higher upside at the position.
