Tension is mounting at Nellore Hospital following the brutal murder of transgender leader Hasini

Tension gripped the Government General Hospital in Nellore in Andhra Pradesh following the killing of Hasini, a well-known leader of the transgender community, late on Tuesday evening. The victim was reportedly hacked to death by unknown assailants in Tapathopu, Kodavaluru Mandal. Her body was taken to the GGH Mortuary, where the incident sparked widespread outrage.

In response, a large group of transgender people gathered at the hospital, including members from Nellore, Tamil Nadu, Tirupati, Vijayawada and other regions. Protesters protested at the morgue demanding quick justice for Hasini. The growing crowds prompted authorities to set up heavy police barricades and deploy additional troops to maintain order and prevent further escalation.

Footage from the hospital shows the crowd mourning the loss of the transgender leader and demanding justice for the killing.

Local officials have expressed concern about the increasingly volatile situation. Police have confirmed that the killing may be linked to an ongoing power struggle between rival transgender factions. Initial investigations have reportedly led to potential suspects, and the Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) has assured the community that arrests will be made soon.

As authorities try to contain the unrest, plans are being made to transport Hasini’s body to her hometown Mangalam, Tirupati, for the last rites.
