Tyrique Stevenson apologizes for taunting Commanders fan before final game

Tyrique Stevenson wasn’t a household name until Sunday. He is now, but for the wrong reason.

The Bears defensive back was busy harassing Commanders fans at the time of the last play.

He finally realized the play had started and ran over to get involved in the Hail Mary play at exactly the wrong time, giving it to Noah Brown in the end zone. It gave the Commanders an improbable 18-15 victory over the Bears.

Stevenson has since been mocked and mocked on social media.

On Sunday evening, Stevenson apologized.

“To Chicago and teammates: I apologize for the lack of awareness and focus,” Stevenson wrote on social media. ‘The game isn’t over until the zero is on the clock. I can’t take anything for granted. Notes have been taken, improvements will occur. #Beardown.”

The loss dropped the Bears to 4-3 behind the Lions, Vikings and Packers in the NFC North.
