Skoda’s motorsport department has launched a new racing concept version for the company’s Enyaq vRS electric SUV.

Although it uses the same basic powertrain as the road car, it gets a 70mm drop at the rear, while the body itself has been made 72mm wider at the front and 116mm wider at the rear.

However, one of the key factors of the new Enyaq RS Race concept is its focus on lightweight materials. Skoda says it is “significantly” lighter than the production model, due to biocomposite components. In fact, biocomposite body sections – including the bumpers, roof and roof vents – allow the Enyaq RS Race to tip the scales at around 316kg lighter than the road car on which it is based. . Even the panoramic glass roof was replaced by a biocomposite panel.

A range of components are also made from sustainable materials, with natural flax fibers replacing carbon. PowerRibs technology – which uses lightweight natural figures made from linen – is used to reinforce the car’s body panels and make the entire structure more rigid.

Many parts of the production car were taken from the assembly line, redesigned and reassembled. But there are also a number of race-ready features, like Atech racing seats with six-point seat belts and automatic fire extinguishers.

An extensive aerodynamic package is also included, featuring a large rear wing, an “aerodynamically optimized roof” and an air intake that brings fresh air from the outside into the interior.

Below you will find 82 kWh linked to twin electric motors bringing 335 hp. Skoda says the Enyaq RS Race can go from 0 to 60 mph in less than five seconds before reaching a top speed of 112 mph.
