Cameras caught Shohei Ohtani yelling at Ump in the dugout after an awkward prank

The Los Angeles Dodgers managed to salvage their season and force Game 5 of their NLDS with an 8-0 victory over the San Diego Padres at Petco Park on Wednesday night. It was the kind of dominant performance they needed after losing two straight games in what has been a heated series between the two NL West rivals.

There was a wild play in the fourth inning that helped the Padres keep the run off the board. Teoscar Hernandez hit a shot from the left line that should have easily scored Shohei Ohtani at second. But the ball hit the umpire behind third base and Manny Machado was able to throw Ohtani out at home.

Ohtani returned to the dugout and watched a replay on a tablet. The cameras then caught him shouting at the referee:

Ohtani must have been surprised when he was kicked out of the house and the replay clearly left him furious. But there’s nothing the referee could have really done better in this situation.

Game 5 will be Friday night in Los Angeles. It should be fun.
