Afternoon tea inspired by roses and perfumes with stunning city views

Fans of niche fragrances will certainly know about Editions de Parfums Frédéric Malle, the perfume house known for exclusive scents like Portrait of a Lady, En Passant, Iris Poudre and, of course, the iconic Une Rose. This year, Une Rose received a chic makeover with darker, earthier notes, and is now known as Rose Tonnerre.

To celebrate the new perfume and Frédéric Malle’s new opening at Raffles City Singapore, the fragrance house is collaborating with Skai to launch a month-long afternoon tea experience. From now until October 31, the rose-inspired afternoon tea (from $68 per person) will take guests through a variety of curated bites that highlight the different notes and facets of the new scent. And the cherry on top? A stunning view of the city from the 70th-floor rooftop restaurant at Swissôtel The Stamford.

Indulge in a variety of savory dishes, such as smoked eel rillette with caviar, bluefin tuna nori roll and hamachi and truffle ponzu. In particular, Perigord truffles are used because they are a key note in Rose Tonerre. There’s also foie gras mousse and cherry pie, as well as a rich brie cheese quiche.

Two rose-themed desserts are the highlights of the sweets section – the chocolate tart with raspberry and rose and the rose choux with vanilla and Madagascar jasmine. Les Editions de Parfums Bon Bon acts as a spicy interlude, presenting a chocolate delight with citrus passion fruit. And no afternoon tea is complete with scones. Skai serves a Madagascar vanilla version with regular sides of clotted cream and homemade strawberry jam. And for the perfect ending, Tahitian vanilla tea cake with rose berries is served at the table and adorned with rose petals for a perfect finish.

Guests can also choose from two rose-inspired drinks – the Scarlet Eden mocktail with lychee and rose cordial and the gin-based Daydream of Lilac cocktail (available with a $25 refill).

The Frédéric Malle perfume-inspired afternoon tea at Skai is available until 31 October, daily from 3pm to 5pm at Skai, Level 70, Swissôtel The Stamford, Singapore 178882.
