Before we get to the boss fight, you might want to familiarize yourself with survival horror’s many safe codes and locked door combinations.

How to beat Pyramid Head in the Silent Hill 2 remake explained

To defeat Pyramid Head in the Silent Hill 2 remake, you need to avoid his attacks for about three minutes.

Yes, the first Pyramid Head boss fight in Blue Creek Apartments challenges you simply with survival.

Land a few hits on Pyramid Head with your pistol or melee weapon and the boss fight will end a little sooner, but your task is simply to survive while avoiding being killed by the powerful enemy.

You can check out Pyramid Head’s boss battles in YouTuber CaptainCigar’s amazing video (Spoilers follow, of course!):

As you can see in the video, if you avoid Pyramid Head long enough, he will simply go away. You don’t need to shoot him or hit him, but if you do, it’s best to focus on the melee weapons if you can, or the pistol if you want to attack from a distance.

Ammunition for handguns is more abundant than other more powerful weapons. Given that you don’t need to attack (it will just make the boss battle a little shorter), it’s best not to waste shotgun ammo especially.

In terms of general tips, Pyramid Head only has a few attacks. His sword attack has a long range, so it’s best to keep your distance as best as you can.

We essentially recommend circulating around the arena. These rusty cages don’t block Pyramid Head’s attacks, so don’t try to hide behind them (you see they are easily destroyed in the video above).

If he gets close, use the dodge button! This will save your life.

You’ll know you’ve lasted long enough when you hear the siren and Pyramid Head freezes before leaving. Phew.

The final encounter with two spear-wielding Pyramid Heads will be trickier, but similar advice remains: shoot them with your gun, avoid their attacks, and keep moving around the arena.
