Fans praised Terrifier 3 as the ‘best horror film they’ve ever seen’ despite it being banned from some cinemas.

The sequel – a sequel to the 2022 film – follows Art the Clown (David Howard Thornton) returning to Miles County and causing horrific chaos while dressed in a scary Santa Claus costume.

Sienna Shaw (Lauren LaVera), who managed to escape his clutches in the last film, has her world shattered again when she feels his presence once again.

The third installment in the spooky franchise was released in US theaters today, with theaters issuing warnings to ticket holders about the seriously dark scenes, amid reports of some moviegoers vomiting during screenings or leaving.

The news that under-18s have been banned from screenings in France has clearly done little to deter anyone, as Terrifier 3 currently boasts an impressive 94% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes, compared to a 78% critic rating.

Praising Art and company, Stephanie raved: ‘The best horror film I’ve ever seen! Very creative scenes!’

Brandie P agreed: ‘I love, love, loved how this movie really was one of the scariest movies I’ve seen in years. Art the Clown is back and more devious than ever. Top-notch blood and gore. Can’t wait for Terrifier 4 (sic).’

Shannon S wrote: ‘Made me tighten my seat in scenes. The audience laughed, gasped and applauded at the end.

“This is how a film should provide a cinematic experience. Exciting and fun. And yes, it is very disgusting! But, it’s a slasher that goes for it! And it wouldn’t be Terrifier without him!

“It was somehow bloodier and more violent than the last couple, I didn’t even know that was possible,” said Kitsune S.

Daniel replied: ‘Wow! This movie is super bloody, as much as the first two combined. This is why the Terriifier franchise is the best horror right now. Something different that makes you watch just to see what will happen next.

As one anonymous reviewer added: “Damn, this movie was a masterpiece. Disgusting in all the right ways and a beautiful horror.

‘Favorite film to release this year, for sure. 100% recommend watching this movie if you have the stomach for it, of course. If not, watch it on an empty stomach! (sic).’

France issued a very rare ban on the scary sequel (Photo: Cineverse Corp)

Director Damien Leone released the first Terrifier in 2016, with the hugely popular sequel hitting cinemas just two years ago.

For the first time in almost 20 years, the French film classification committee has banned under-18s from Damien’s latest offering – the last film to be blocked was Saw 3 in 2006.

The film’s French distributors ESC Éditions, Shadowz Films and Factoris Films shared a joint statement criticizing the decision with Bloody Disgusting.

“We can only regret this unexpected final decision, which will seriously harm the release of the film, awaited by tens of thousands of French viewers and scheduled for October 9th (and, of course, maintained),” it said.

‘Terrifier 3 is an author’s film in the purest tradition of the slasher genre, with perfectly “grand-guignolesque” and unrealistic violence.

‘The film never takes itself too seriously and we know viewers will have the distance and maturity necessary to understand and appreciate this artistic approach.’

Terrifier 3 is now in theaters.
