Second suspect arrested in connection with Speed ​​Street shooting

A second Vicksburg man is in custody in connection with the Oct. 1 shooting on Speed ​​Street that injured one person.

Stuart Thomas, 24, was taken into custody at the Vicksburg Police Department (VPD) on Friday, the VPD said in a statement.

Thomas was wanted on a warrant for tampering with physical evidence in connection with the shooting that occurred near the intersection of Speed ​​and Drummond streets. The incident was the second shooting in three days in the 1100 block of Speed ​​Street and both incidents were suspected of targeting a home at 1107 Speed ​​Street.

Another suspect, 29-year-old Nicholas Clay, was taken into custody on October 3 in connection with the shooting. Both suspects turned themselves in to VPD.

Clay was charged with aggravated assault and remanded to the Warren County Grand Jury on $50,000 bail by Vicksburg Municipal Court Judge Penny Lawson.

Thomas appeared before Lawson on Friday, where he was given a $30,000 bond and bound over to the Warren County Grand Jury.
