Arizona Democrats close Tempe office shot at

Arizona Democrats have closed a local office that was the target of three shootings in as many weeks.

Candidates and staffers working out of the office have moved their activities to other undisclosed locations, said Lauren Kuby, a candidate for state Senate in Legislative District 8. She said there have been questions about finding a new location for the party-coordinated campaign, which serves several legislative districts in the southeast Valley.

The office, on Southern Avenue west of Priest Drive, was hit by pellet gun pellets and gunfire. All of the shootings occurred late at night when no one was working at the scene.

The shootings came as concerns have risen about violence during the current campaign cycle, highlighted by two assassination attempts on former President Donald Trump.

The state Democratic Party has not yet responded to requests for comment.

Tempe police are investigating. Earlier this week, they released a photo of a silver Toyota Highlander caught on camera during the October 6 event.

The Tempe Police Department on Thursday asked for the public’s help, pointing to a $1,000 reward from Silent Witness for any information leading to the arrest or indictment of any suspect involved in this crime.
