‘They call it lightning in a bottle for a reason’

When reflecting on his time as Sheldon Cooper, Parsons added: ‘I never say never to anything’

Jim Parsons is perfectly fine with not revisiting The Big Bang Theory shortly.

In the October 11 episode of Who is talking to Chris Wallace about Max, Parsons, 51, said he considers being known as his character Sheldon Cooper a “blessing.” However, the actor, who currently stars in the Broadway revival of Our citysaid he is not considering rebooting or reuniting the hit show.

“As we sit here right now, no, but I would never say anything either, because life changes so much,” he told Wallace when asked if he would consider a reboot or a reunion show. “You know, one of the things is that it was so special for what it was and what it is. And they call it lightning in a bottle for a reason, and you can be sure it wouldn’t be like that.”

“And so why would we do that? I don’t know, that’s how I feel right now. But like I said, God willing, life is very long,” Parsons added.

The Big Bang Theory it ran from 2007 to 2019 and earned Parsons four Emmys and a Golden Globe.

When asked if being known to people as his character Sheldon is a “blessing or a curse,” Parsons responded, “I feel very strongly that it’s almost, if not quite, 100% a blessing at this point, I don’t, I know that. I wouldn’t have said that 10 years ago.”

His character is so beloved that Sheldon inspired a prequel spinoff based on the character’s childhood, aptly titled Young Sheldonwhich ran from 2017-2024.

Parsons told People in June how the prequel series finale was the perfect send-off for the show, giving him the closure he didn’t know he needed as the show’s narrator and executive producer.

Parsons especially enjoyed appearing as Sheldon with his co-star and on-screen wife Mayim Bialik (who plays Amy Farrah Fowlery) in a cameo. “It felt like a perfect little conclusion at the end of this whole beautiful experience.”

“All those actors and writers and the crew Young Sheldon they are so sweet,” he added. “Coming back and being in their space as a very welcome guest was… it was really cool.”

Parsons fans can see him on the Great White Way at Our citya celebrated revival of Thornton Wilder’s Pulitzer Prize-winning play. The show premiered on October 10 to rave reviews and stars Katie Holmes, Zoey Deutch, Ephraim Sykes, Richard Thomas, Billy Eugene Jones, Michelle Wilson, Julie Halston and Donald Webber Jr.
