One dead, two injured in separate shooting incidents in Bihar

Patna, October 12 (IANS): One man was killed and two others injured in separate incidents in Rohtas and Jehanabad districts of Bihar.

The deceased was identified as Harelal Rai, a member of the Block Development Council.

Rai was shot dead by unidentified assailants on bikes when he was at a farm with a family member in Chandi village in Rohtas on Friday night.

He was rushed to the Government Medical College in Dehri block but unfortunately, he succumbed to multiple gunshot injuries.

District SP Raushan Kumar along with a substantial police force promptly reached the crime scene to investigate the matter.

“We have investigated the incident and gathered some important clues. The accused will be arrested soon,” Kumar said.

Rai’s son Bajrangi Kumar said his father was murdered due to old enmity.

In another incident in Jehanabad, two policemen, Vicky Kumar and Karu Yadav, were fired upon by miscreants traveling on bicycles on Saturday morning.

The incident occurred when the police personnel, residents of Bistol village under the jurisdiction of Sikaria police station, were returning from Durga Puja Pandal at around 12:30 pm.

According to police statements, when a group of individuals, who had parked bicycles in the middle of the road, in front of Sikaria Secondary School, were asked to give way, they shot at them.

The injured police officers were rushed to Sadar Hospital.

As Vicky Kumar’s health deteriorated, he was referred to Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH).

“The accused parked their bicycles in the middle of the road and when the police asked them to remove the vehicles, the former fought and shot at them. The attackers have been identified and will be put behind bars soon. the past,” said Shashikant Pandey, SHO of Sikaria police station.
