UAAP: No conclusive evidence supports claims regarding Torres-Robinson incident

MANILA, Philippines – After a thorough investigation, the UAAP found no conclusive evidence that could prove allegations that UP player Reyland Torres used profane language against De La Salle coach Topex Robinson, who spat in retaliation against the former in the Fighting game Maroons-Green Archers on October 6th. .

“The allegations that Mr. Torres used profane language and that Coach Robinson spat at Mr. Torres could not be conclusively proven based on testimony and evidence available during the investigation,” the UAAP wrote in a statement Saturday .

Still, the UAAP issued a stern warning to Torres and Robinson for their unsportsmanlike conduct in the third quarter of the match that La Salle won 68-56 at the Mall of Asia Arena.

The UAAP found that Torres passed Robinson very close and he responded with language inappropriate for a coach.

“The investigation revealed that both individuals exhibited behaviors that do not reflect the values ​​of sportsmanship espoused by the UAAP and the International Basketball Federation (FIBA),” wrote the UAAP, which said future violations of tournament guidelines will result in more stringent penalties. .
