Lansing man arrested after bullet narrowly misses sleeping child in Holt

DELHI TWP. — Police say they have arrested a suspect in connection with an incident in which a bullet narrowly missed a sleeping child in a mobile home community.

Ingham County sheriff’s detectives, working with Michigan State Police troopers from the Safe Cities Partnership and members of the Violent Crimes Initiative regional unit, located the suspect in north Lansing on Friday afternoon, sheriff’s officials said in a press release.

The suspect, a 36-year-old Lansing man, was booked into the Ingham County Jail pending formal charges, they said.

The shooting incident happened around 8 a.m. Thursday at Stonegate Mobile Home Park on Eaton Rapids Road.

A suspect fired several shots from a handgun during a dispute, authorities said. There were no reports of injuries, but bullets struck two vehicles and one bullet went through the outside wall of a house and hit a mattress where a child was sleeping, they said.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call the sheriff’s office at (517) 676-8202.
