Police appeal after Leitrim driver went twice the speed limit at school

Drivers in County Leitrim have been warned to slow down outside the county’s National Schools after a driver was caught driving at twice the speed limit.

The driver was detected committing the crime outside a national school in Leitrim in recent days.

The driver was caught traveling at 116km/h in a 50km/h speed zone in recent days.

A spokesperson for Leitrim gardaí said: “The Sligo/Leitrim Road Policing Unit has issued an appeal to motorists to slow down after carrying out speed checks outside some national schools in Leitrim.

“A driver was detected traveling at 116 km/h in a 50 km/h speed zone.

“Motorists caught driving above the speed limit will receive fixed charge penalty notices.”

Conviction will result in a fine and penalty points on your driver’s license.
