Elderly man, 92, threatened and robbed by intruder at home in Edinburgh

A 92-year-old man was threatened and robbed after his home was broken into in Edinburgh.

The incident occurred at an address on Saxe Coburg Street in the capital on Friday night.

Police are now looking to track down the man responsible and have released a description in the hope that someone may have some information to help with their inquiries.

The elderly victim was at home when the suspect entered the property, around 9:10 pm.

He threatened the pensioner before fleeing with a stolen amount of money.

The suspect is described as a white male, clean shaven, between the ages of 30 and 40 with a medium build.

At the time of the robbery, he was wearing a dark blue knee-length jacket with large white letters on the front and a dark gray baseball cap.

Detective Sergeant Martin Smith, of Corstorphine CID, said: “Fortunately, the victim was not injured during the robbery, but it was still a very distressing experience for him.

“Our investigations into this incident are ongoing and we are appealing to anyone with information or who thinks they have seen a man matching the description to contact us.

“We are also keen for any local residents with private CCTV or possible dashcam footage to come forward.

“We would ask anyone who can help to contact Police Scotland at 101.”
