Experts restore 100-year-old Sherlock Holmes film series

A team of restoration experts is reviving film strips from a silent version of Sherlock Holmes. “Silent Sherlock: Three Classic Cases” has much more footage than a modern Hollywood film. Film restorers meticulously analyze over 20 hours of content. Computer software changes the color of the film and erases dark marks, but it is a very slow process. The restored footage will be shown at the 2024 London Film Festival.
