“We’re lost and we just want to go home!” Disney has revealed the official trailer for an adorable animated short called An almost Christmas storyproduced by maestro filmmaker Alfonso Cuaronand directed by acclaimed filmmaker David Lowery for Disney+. The 21-minute film has been shown at film festivals this year and will stream on Disney+ this fall in November. Just in time for an Oscar nomination next year. An almost Christmas story is inspired by the true events of a little owl rescued from the Rockefeller Center Christmas tree in New York in 2020. It’s about Moon, a curious young owl who unexpectedly finds herself trapped in a tree destined for Rockefeller Plaza. In her attempts to escape the busy city, Moon befriends a lost little girl named Luna. Together, they embark on an exciting adventure, discovering the magic of the holiday season. Voices include Cary Cristóvão like Moon, newcomer Estella Madrigal like moon, Jim Gaffigan like Daddy Owl, Mamoudou Athie like Pelly, Alex Ross Perry like Dave the dog, Gianna José like peak, Phil Rosenthal like Punt, with Natasha Lyonne like Pat and John C. Reilly as The Folk Singer, who performs four songs from the short, two of which are original songs. It looks like it’s stop-motion animation, but they don’t call it that, so it’s just the style – made of cardboard and wood. What a cute little owl.
