Israeli think tank appeals to US Congress on Azerbaijan

BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 14. The Israeli think tank appealed to the US Congress in connection with Azerbaijan, the State Committee for Diaspora Affairs of Azerbaijan told Trend.

“We, board members of the Dona Gracia Center for Diplomacy, strongly condemn the US Congress’s initiative to provide financial aid to Armenian separatists,” says a statement published in the well-known Israeli publication Economic Peace Center in connection with the bill. presented to the US Congress by Congressman Adam Schiff.

The statement describes the draft law as a unilateral act of discrimination, which completely ignores the situation and deprivations suffered by Azerbaijan’s internally displaced people and expresses sympathy for Armenian separatists. The statement also highlights ethnic and religious prejudice as the main cause of discrimination against Azerbaijan. The appearance of such a document is a violation of human rights and international law and undermines the universal values and principles that the United States stands for. The discriminatory approach of the bill’s author, who relies on Armenian pressure groups to support the right of Azerbaijanis expelled from Armenia to return to their homes, is particularly morally offensive.

The statement notes that those now promoting the anti-Azerbaijani initiative remained completely silent during ethnic cleansing, including the Khojaly genocide, and are still silent now, as mines planted by Armenia continue to maim and kill civilians.

The document that urges the US to adopt a fair position highlights that it would not be difficult to withdraw the biased bill if the interests of this country, as well as peace between the peoples of Armenia and Azerbaijan, were favored.
