Nonprofit Organizes ‘Help Get ‘Em Home’ Fundraiser for Missing Person Search Efforts in Nebraska

LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) – According to the National Missing and Unidentified Persons System, there are more than 23,000 missing persons cases in the country. In Nebraska, there are 85.

Local nonprofit Bring ‘Em Home Nebraska wants to lower that number and give families long-awaited answers.

On Tuesday, October 15, Bring ‘Em Home will hold a fundraiser and silent auction to raise awareness and resources to continue investigating cases across the state and some that have made headlines across the capital.

That’s where 30-year-old Jerica Hamre disappeared on June 25. Hamre’s parents told investigators that she was assaulted just 24 hours before she was last seen. Bring ‘Em Home founder Eric Rezabek said authorities have a suspect, but the search for Jerica stretches from the capital to Lexington.

Also in Lincoln, Tyler Goodrich red flag signs can be seen on almost every street. The first anniversary of her disappearance comes a few weeks after the fundraiser. The Bring ‘Em Home team says they have “something in the works” for this case that will hopefully end in a lead in the case.

The team seeks answers and information for cases like Alex Mayfield’s. Mayfield’s body was recovered in a car in the Missouri River just a week after her July 31 disappearance. Rezabek said even though Mayfield was found, his family deserves to know what happened.

“If there are questions about how this happened,” Rezabek explained, “if there are questions about whether everything is being done to get the family answers, we will still remain involved.”

Molly Nelson, director of operations, said Bring ‘Em Home helps families through a multitude of means.

“We do this through search techniques, across many different routes,” Nelson said. “To bring closure and justice to families and people searching for missing loved ones, and bring them home, of course.”

The fundraiser and silent auction at Rosie’s Sports Bar and Grill will feature resource information, music, drinks and pumpkin painting for kids.

Children’s cover costs R$3 and adult entry costs R$7. The event will take place on Tuesday, October 15th, at 6pm.
