PARKERSBURG — Charges have been filed against a Parkersburg High School student following an incident at the school last week.

Parkersburg Police Chief Matthew Board said the school resource officer responded to a medical situation and a student had to be restrained. He said the student was uncooperative during the medical emergency and the resource officer and staff recommended the student be taken into custody.

The board said charges have been filed against that student, but no additional information has been released because the student is a minor and the case has not yet been prosecuted.

Wood County Schools Superintendent Christie Willis said the district takes student safety and privacy seriously. She said the district does not comment on investigations involving students.
