On sale later this year

Hyundai is gearing up to launch the Inster Cross, an off-road inspired variant of the recently launched electric city car, Inster.

The Inster Cross promises to combine versatility with rugged aesthetics, but does it offer anything more than a visual makeover?

Rugged enough for outdoor activities?

The Inster Cross will feature exterior-inspired design touches both inside and out, while offering the spacious interior and luggage capacity found in the standard Inster.

Changes to the new model include beefier rectangular bumpers, embossed black cladding and skid plates, with roof racks also fitted as standard. The front and rear skid plates will also feature side panels and 17-inch alloy wheels.

The Inster Cross will be available in the exclusive matte green color, along with five other color options, some with a two-tone black roof.

As for the interior, there is only one significant change: the gray fabric upholstery with lemon yellow accents on the dashboard. Additionally, it offers the convenience of folding all four seats and has an accessible front cabin.

What are the specifications?

Likewise, the mechanical configuration remains unchanged, offering the option of two single-engine electric powertrains. The base option offers 96 hp from a 42 kWh battery, providing a claimed range of 186 miles. In contrast, the Long-Range version increases output to 113 hp and extends range to 221 miles.

The intster Cross can be charged from 10 to 80 percent in around 30 minutes when using a 120 kW DC charger.
