Diwali bonanza for the employees of this state government! 4% DA increase announced – Check details

The Chhattisgarh government announced a 4% increase in cost subsidy (DA) for state government employees. After the announcement, the employee assistance allowance reached 50 percent of the basic salary. Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai made the announcement today.

When will it be DA Walk Implemented?

Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai stated that the increase will come into effect from October 1, 2024.

What did CM say?

This decision will benefit approximately 3.9 lakh state employees by ensuring that their DA is now aligned with that of central government employees. “As Diwali approaches, we have decided to increase DA by 4 percent, providing some financial relief to employees just in time for the festival,” CM Sai said.

Previous DA Walk

The state government had already increased the AD by 4% in March 2024, bringing it to 46% of the base salary. Now, with this additional increase, the AD stands at 50 percent.

Cabinet Meeting

The announcement was made ahead of a state cabinet meeting where discussions were scheduled on procurement of rice and maize, upcoming Rajyotsav celebrations and the state’s anti-Naxal policy. Officials have hinted that the government may soon declare dates for rice procurement.

Meeting with PM Modi and anti-Naxal operations

Earlier, CM Sai met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi to update him on Chhattisgarh’s development over the last nine months. The CM highlighted several ongoing projects in agriculture, skill development and education.

He also briefed PM Modi about a recent anti-Naxal operation, which resulted in the elimination of 31 Naxalites in Narayanpur-Dantewada district – the biggest operation of its kind in the state’s history. PM Modi appreciated the bravery of the security forces and congratulated them on their success.

During the meeting, CM Sai also expressed his gratitude for the Centre’s approval to construct eight lakh houses under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana.

What did state officials say at the DA walk?

Civil servants expressed their joy at the government’s decision. A spokesperson for the Employees’ Federation said: “This decision has doubled our happiness for Diwali. We have been waiting for this for a long time and this will allow us to celebrate the festival in a better way.” The employees also shared that the increase will provide them with financial relief and meet the government’s expectations.
