Liverpool have been linked with three defenders ahead of the January transfer window. The Reds were heavily linked with signing a new centre-back this summer, but opted to keep their existing options in the squad.

Arne Slot has made a new addition to the Liverpool squad he inherited from Jurgen Klopp this summer. Italian star Federico Chiesa has arrived from Juventus – with goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili not officially moving to Anfield until next summer and remains at Spanish giants Valencia.

There are a few months left until the January transfer window, when Liverpool will be able to strengthen their squad if they wish. Rumors are already beginning to emerge about the deals the Reds could undertake in the New Year, with some interesting names circulating.

The ECHO has looked at some of the latest Liverpool transfer news and gossip that has made headlines in the last 24 hours. Liverpool have been linked with a move for Fiorentina defender Michael Kayode ahead of the January transfer window.

According to Italian media outlet Corriere dello Sport, the Reds have added the centre-back, who can also play at right-back, to their roster ahead of a potential move in the New Year. The report assesses that Kayode has been targeted by Tottenham Hotspur, Aston Villa, Brentford and Bournemouth in recent months.

However, it has been claimed that Liverpool are now in contention and considering submitting an offer when the January window opens. Kayode has played just 18 minutes in Serie A this season for Fiorentina and could be looking for more regular game time with a January move, with £21m quoted as his valuation.

Elsewhere, Liverpool are once again linked to the attacks of Sevilla defender Loic Bade and Sporting centre-back Gonçalo Inácio. According to El Mira, Bade and Inácio are still defensive targets for the Reds ahead of the January transfer window.

It has been reported that Liverpool intend to sign Bade when the transfer window reopens. Ignatius has also been mentioned as a target, but a £38m price tag could mean the Reds could “favour” a deal for Bade, who could be allowed to leave for a lesser fee than that.

The report claims Bade has a £50m (€60m) release clause in the contract extension he signed last month. However, it has been reported that Sevilla could even allow him to withdraw from an offer worth £33.5m made when the market reopens.
