Tonnes of scrap caught fire at recycling site in Gravesend

Five fire engines battled the flames after 100 tons of scrap metal caught fire.

Residents near a recycling site in Gravesend were advised to keep windows and doors closed as crews battled to contain the blaze, which broke out shortly after midnight.

It took almost four hours to control the flames.

There were no injuries reported.

The cause is unknown.
