Gwen Walz Schools Trump on His Latest ‘Scary’ and ‘Totally Crazy’ Boast

Gwen Walz, wife of Democratic vice presidential nominee Tim Walz, on Wednesday criticized GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump’s boast of being the “father of in vitro fertilization” as not just “scary” but “ completely crazy.”

Walz addressed Trump’s comment at a campaign event in the same state.

The former president “tried to rewrite his terrible record on reproductive freedom,” Walz said, adding that she “can hardly believe” his boast as the “father of in vitro fertilization.”

“That’s what he said. That’s a direct quote: the ‘father of IVF’. I would say more like the father of the Georgia abortion ban,” she continued.

“Now, I’m a longtime teacher and in my classroom we believe in facts, so here are some,” said Walz, who with her husband turned to fertility treatment for help when they had trouble having children.

Walz then noted Trump’s role in overturning Roe v. Wade. Wade, who has led to extreme abortion bans in several states, and how Trump’s platform “threatens IVF nationwide.”

After each fact, the audience joined her in saying, “That’s a fact.”
