The exclusive reservation Christmas pop-up bar is ‘inspired by the Paris wine bars of the 1920s’ and comes with a £75 glass of Champagne.

Greggs, known for its budget-friendly sweet treats, is collaborating with Fenwick to launch a high-end wine bar, surprising customers with a more luxurious offering.

The French-inspired pop-up is set to open in Fenwick’s Newcastle store from October 24 to December 31, from 11:30am to 6pm (or 7pm on Thursday and 4pm on Sunday), by reservation only.

Created by Fenwick executive chef Mark Reid in collaboration with Greggs, the food includes a revamp of its most popular treats, such as a roast steak served with creamy chilli aioli and a sausage roll with warm chilli and honey sauce.

Prices on this Art Nouveau-style menu range from £4 for a sausage roll to £425 for a bottle of Louis Roederer Cristal.

Hannah Squirrell, customer director at Greggs, said: “While Champagne and Greggs may not be the most immediate food and drink pairing, following the success and reaction to our Greggs Bistro last year, we are excited about the launch of Greggs Champagne Bar in Fenwick.

“We hope that everyone who visited us last year, and many others, will enjoy the fun and unique experience that has been created and discover that a chilled glass of champagne accompanied by a sausage roll will be the hottest ticket in Toon in 2024.”

This isn’t Greggs’ first surprising venture, as their previous partnership with Primark helped them achieve sales of £18.1 billion, as well as create a sell-out range of gold jewelery including sausage earrings and a bracelet with steak charms.
