Silent Hill 2’s Dev Bloober team is back with Cronos: The New Dawn on PS5

Fresh off the sublime critical reception – and sales – of its remake of Silent Hill 2, Polish developer Bloober Team is back once again with a new survival horror called Cronos: The New Dawn.

According to the press release, the game is set in a “dark world where Eastern European brutalism meets retro-futuristic technology” – sounds lovely, doesn’t it? One trailer showed a man in a suit playing chess with an elderly woman, before cutting her up like Wolverine.

It looks like the title will switch between timelines, a bit like The Medium. “In the past, you will witness a world in the midst of Change, a cataclysmic event that forever altered humanity. Meanwhile, in the wastelands of the future, every moment is a fight for survival against dangerous abominations that will test both your reflexes and your tactical thinking.”

You will play as a Harvester, searching for important people from the past who died during the apocalypse. His task is to extract her “essence” – we assume that’s what’s happening in the trailer when he dismembers the aforementioned lady.

“In a desolate world full of ever-present dangers, your survival depends on your ability to strategize and plan ahead. The enemies you will encounter are nightmarish creatures, born from the remnants of humanity – defeating them will require you to make full use of your arsenal. During battle, quick decisions can mean the difference between life and death.”

There is no release date yet, but the game will be released in 2025.
