‘Bionic Lord’ Craig MacKinlay takes seat in Upper House

Lord MacKinlay, 58, said of his experience of life after sepsis: “You depend on other people and you get frustrated.

“I was never the most patient character, even before this.

“But there are two things that really keep me going.

“I can do more today than I could yesterday, so I can do more tomorrow.

“And you have to say well, it’s better than the alternative, and I was very close to the alternative, which was death.”
