Strictly Come Dancing star Nick Knowles has revealed he is recovering in hospital after undergoing major surgery.

The DIY SOS star, 62, was eliminated from Sunday’s dreaded dance, having been forced to miss Movie Week following a knee and arm injury.

On Instagram, the TV presenter shared a clip from a hospital bed and explained that he had just woken up following a ‘biceps reattachment’ operation.

Nick said he was also awaiting knee surgery, but should be “fine as rain” after several months of physical therapy.

He said: ‘I’ve just woken up from my operation. Everything went well in all respects, so now I have a reattached bicep.

‘A bit of physio over the next two or three months and everything should be fine as rain, and back to 100% I think.

‘That’s one for down and one for knee-deep.’

Nick injured his knee during rehearsals with his partner Luba Mushtuk, which he described as a “huge disappointment”. He was later photographed on crutches.

He had previously suffered a shoulder and arm injury while changing a tire, leaving his inclusion in the competition up in the air before it was confirmed just days before the live show.

Nick said on It Takes Two: ‘I’m getting sick and tired of my injuries, everyone else must be tired of it too.

‘I want to be able to dance well enough tomorrow to be judged just on dancing and not on anything else.

‘If you think about it, everyone has things to deal with, Chris is doing amazing things every week, Punam (Krishan) is holding down a job at the GP while training and everyone has their own mountains to climb.’

On Sunday night, Nick and Luba lost their dance contest against former X Factor winner Shayne Ward and her dance partner Nancy Xu.

Appearing on BBC spin-off show It Takes Two to discuss his departure, Nick said: ‘I had a week off, you can see actually everyone made a lot of progress that week and I just didn’t have time to be able to catch up. prepare and do well enough to stay in the competition.

‘I think it was the right outcome in the end and it means I can now sort out the various parts of myself that are falling apart.

‘I may have surgery on my arm this week and then another operation on my knee in three weeks so I can recover.’

Nick said he ‘genuinely fell in love with dancing’, so after the operations he will ‘do some more training with Luba’.

He joked that he might take part in the Strictly Come Dancing tour, but ‘more importantly, I’m getting married next year and Luba will help choreograph the first dance’.

Mushtuk promised he would teach Nick and his fiancee Katie Dadzie Argentine tango.

Continues Strictly on Saturday at 6:25pm on BBC One and iPlayer.
