In a shocking incident that highlighted the dangers of online fraud, a retired judge from Indore fell victim to cyber fraud after a simple food order turned into a costly mistake. This incident highlights the growing prevalence of cybercrime, as cybercriminals continually develop new methods to target unsuspecting victims.

The victim had ordered food through the delivery app Swiggy, but was worried about the portion size. In an attempt to cancel his order, he searched for customer service on Google and, unintentionally, called a number linked to cybercriminals. Believing he was taking the correct steps to cancel the order, he followed the instructions and clicked the link provided.

This action quickly turned into a disaster. Upon clicking the link, the man’s phone stopped responding and he lost control as the scammers took control remotely. They gained access to sensitive information, including one-time passwords (OTPs) sent to your phone. Within moments, he discovered that Rs 1 lakh had been withdrawn from his bank account.

The victim immediately reported the incident to the local police station. Since then, authorities have launched an investigation into the case, with the aim of locating the perpetrators of this fraudulent scheme. As cases of online fraud continue to rise in Indore, the local cyber police have been working to raise awareness about these scams.
