The Election Commission of India (EC) has announced the dates for the upcoming Legislative Assembly elections in Maharashtra and Jharkhand. In Maharashtra, elections will be held in a single phase on November 20, 2024. The term of the assembly ends on November 26, 2024. Maharashtra, which has a 288-member assembly, has witnessed political upheavals in recent years, with the BJP, Shiv Sena (Uddhav faction), NCP and Congress all playing important roles in forming and reshaping coalitions. Currently, Eknath Shinde serves as chief minister, supported by the BJP, following a split in the Shiv Sena party.

In Jharkhand, assembly elections will be held in two phases on November 13 and 20, 2024. the election results of both states – Jharkhand and Maharashtra will be declared on November 23. with the Congress and the RJD, it will face the BJP-led NDA. In the 2019 elections, the JMM-Congress-RJD alliance secured 47 seats out of 81, forming the government under Chief Minister Hemant Soren. Hemant Soren also faces criminal charges in the money laundering case. He was granted bail in June. Both states are important political battlegrounds, with intense competition and campaigns already underway as party alliances and strategies are being refined ahead of the elections.
