SWPL announces record payments to clubs

The SWPL has revealed record financial results for the Scottish Women’s Premier Division.

Payments to clubs totaled £389,000, a 17% increase on last year’s figure.

More than £304,000 of this money was distributed through club fees, with the remaining £85,000 shared as prize money through the SWPL Cup.

The league credited broadcast partners Sky Sports, BBC Alba and BBC Scotland for “supporting financial growth” and “driving increased visibility” of the league.

“These are exceptionally strong numbers for the second full season of SWPL,” said managing director Fiona McIntyre.

“They are once again testament to the hard work of our clubs to promote women’s football in Scotland.”
