The biggest ‘silent killer’ warning signs the NHS has warned about as it appears in homes again – Health

A ‘silent killer’ is about to return to UK homes, with some big warning signs to watch out for.

Christmas may be getting closer — only 68 days to go, folks (Mariah is thawing out as we speak) — but the cold winter months also bring some unwelcome side effects.

The shorter hours of the day can result in seasonal affective disorder, a type of depression that comes and goes with the seasonal cycle.

Bad weather can also have a negative impact on your physical health.

The cold, wet weather we can expect in the coming months could cause parts of your home to become damp, making them breeding grounds for mold.

Mold is often diffuse with black, white, or green patches and has an unpleasant musty odor.

It usually forms in the coldest areas of the house and the most common cause of mold in the UK is condensation; often found in places with high humidity levels, such as bathrooms, kitchens, and in and around windows.

If condensation remains, the surface can become damp and create the necessary conditions for mold to grow.

There are a number of serious health risks associated with it, including respiratory illnesses, trigger allergies and asthma, with immunocompromised people at greatest risk. In severe cases, it can even kill you.

Now, Natural Cures has shared the three biggest warning signs for mold in a TikTok video that has been viewed 1.8 million times.

“Number one would be serious brain fog, not being able to think. Your head is in the clouds. You almost feel like you’re disconnected from your body.

“The second thing would be severe anxiety that came on suddenly,” they continued. “Things that were small are amplified a lot because of the toxicity of the mold.”

They explained that severe muscle pain similar to fibromyalgia can also be a symptom.

“Those are probably my indications that I’m dealing with mold.”

Although mold can be extremely unpleasant, there are some things recommended by the NHS that you can do to combat it.

First, take shorter showers and make sure your bathroom exhaust fan is on to prevent steam from turning into condensation.

Additionally, opening windows when cooking or drying clothes indoors can help allow moisture in the air to escape.

Cleaning surfaces can also stop moisture from building up on window sills and walls, and don’t forget to check for leaks in pipes or gutters that could make problems worse.
