People are revealing the everyday things they tried once and immediately knew weren’t for them

As we move forward in life, there are things we will try for the first time and be completely discouraged by the experience. So when Reddit user u/Pokeking44 asked, “What’s something you tried once and immediately knew wasn’t for you?” more than five thousand people shared their ideas. Here’s what they said below:

1.“Haunted houses. Seeing people jumping out of the dark and screaming in my face as I walk through cheesy scenes of violence wasn’t fun at all for me.”

2.“Mushrooms. The first part was really good, but then, as I was lying in bed, my Kurt Cobain poster fell on top of me. I was freaking out thinking why Kurt Cobain came out of the sky to specifically attack me. Still, I killed him a second time.”

“I’m a huge UCLA football fan and ate mushrooms before watching a game once. We were absolutely terrible and getting destroyed, but I was under the illusion that our players were just being classy and missing tackles on purpose because the other team was their best friend, I was literally commenting to my friend, ‘We have the classiest team in the NCAA. .’

7.“Outdoor festivals. Disgusting chamber pots, no water to wash your hands, smell of marijuana, smell of piss, people smelling of BO and alcohol, pushing each other to get ahead, heatstroke, people unaware of what’s around them around you, minimal seating areas, no shade, drunk adults bringing their kids while they waste themselves, and overpriced food, haha.”

8.“For me, it was dating apps. I tried one and instantly felt like it wasn’t for me. The endless swiping and superficial interactions left me feeling more lonely than connected. Plus, most people there only want one thing.”

“I agree. I came back because I was feeling alone. The guy tried to convince me to go camping for our first date. I blacked out so quickly.”

10.“Meditation. I can’t sit still for anything.”

—u/Fun-Comfortable-9028

“I have ADHD and I can’t think and sit still. I’ve tried meditation several times and tried still mind once – just because the guided meditation said, ‘slowly let your thoughts come back’ (after thinking about clouds or something). And because like, a million thoughts were trying to come to the surface at the same time, my brain froze for five whole seconds. It was the most peaceful five seconds of my life, haha.”
