Sarfaraz Khan lights up M Chinnaswamy with maiden Test century during first IND vs NZ Test

Sarfaraz Khan brought up his maiden Test century for India during Day 4 of the India vs New Zealand Test match at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on October 19 (Saturday). Sarafarz’s ton came off just 110 balls as he played a significant role in reducing India’s run deficit in the third innings of the first IND vs NZ Test in the three-match series.

Sarfaraz Khan registered his second duck in Tests in the first innings of the IND vs NZ match when India were bowled out for just 46 runs, recording their lowest innings total in a home Test. However, a strong comeback followed in the second round, led by Sarfaraz. He came to the point after the wicket of Indian captain Rohit Sharma, who fell after a half-century. Along with Virat Kohli, Sarfaraz formed a crucial 136-run partnership before Kohli lost his wicket in the final ball of Day 3.

On day 4, Sarfaraz started exactly where he left and continued his strokes against the New Zealand bowlers. In his innings of 107 runs off 130 balls (at the time of writing), Sarfaraz hit 14 boundaries and three sixes. Notably, more than 45% of Sarafarz’s runs came in the third man region.

Coming into the first half of the IND vs NZ Test, after bowling out India for just 46 runs, New Zealand posted a strong total of 402 runs, with the help of Rachin Ravindra’s hundred and half centuries off the bats of Devon Conway and Tim Southee .
