Jaguars CB Tyson Campbell activated from IR

The Jaguars are getting some much-needed help in the secondary this week as the team announced that cornerback Tyson Campbell was activated from injured reserve. After leaving the team’s season opener with a hamstring injury, Campbell finally returns to the field for a Week 7 matchup against New England in old England.

With Campbell out of the lineup, Jacksonville’s secondary was destroyed for the entire first six weeks of the season. Through six games, the Jaguars defense ranked last in yards allowed, touchdowns allowed and passes intercepted. While it’s hard to imagine Campbell coming in and single-handedly transforming them into an over-the-top pass defense unit, the team’s performance thus far has nowhere to go but improve.

It makes sense that the Jaguars were patient in returning Campbell to the field. Last year, the young corner suffered an injury. He missed two games about a third of the way into the season and tried to bounce back, but only played half of the defense’s snaps before leaving the game and missing two more weeks. He attempted to bounce back once again and played all of the team’s defensive snaps in that game, but would miss again the next two weeks due to injury. This time they put him on IR and gave him time to rest and recover

In addition to activating Campbell, the Jaguars also announced their two-game day roster elevations for tomorrow morning. Running back Jake Funk and defensive end Joe Gaziano will join the team on their trip to London.
