Jacquemus opens first US store in New York

Jacquemus opened the doors of “The New York Boutique”, the brand’s first store in the USA. Located in Manhattan’s SoHo, construction of the store began in November 2023 and was carried out by architectural firm OMA in collaboration with Simon Porte Jacquemus.

The designer sought to bring Parisian and provincial influences to the store, inspired by the neighborhood’s history of artistic vibrancy. Set inside a 19th-century brick house, the space spans 2,906 square feet (270 square meters) over two floors.

OMA focused on making the interior minimalist and warm, using light wood and white stucco. The flooring is inspired by the sidewalks of French castles, while an Italian iron craftsman was commissioned to make the clothing shelves and stair handrails. Banana yellow curtains provide a pop of color.

Furniture has also been carefully sourced, with pieces by Frank Lloyd Wright, Jean Dunand and Bertrand Lacroix on display, as well as art by Aristide Maillol, Joan Miró, Pierre Bonnard, Peter Schlesinger and Wolfgang Tillmans.
