Children’s play center apologizes for body bag Halloween decorations | UK News

A children’s play center has apologized and removed its realistic-looking Halloween body bags following concerns from “shocked” parents.

A mother, who took her daughter to Rugrats and Halfpints in Cirencester, Gloucestershireon Sunday, she said she “did a double take” when she saw the decorations.

Images show that they resemble human bodies covered in black plastic – some wrapped in tape marked “Caution” and “Danger” – hanging upside down from poles adjacent to one of the soft play structures.

The mother, who did not want to be named, told Sky News: “I went in with my daughter.

“The body bags were in the back and could not be seen from the cafe area, only by the children inside.

“When I saw them I was surprised – surely it can’t be what I think? I just didn’t want to have to explain to my son what they were.

“I spoke to a few other parents who were as shocked as I was that it was deemed appropriate. It’s a great joke, but it shocked me a little!”

The center’s website states that it is “committed to providing a safe, clean and stimulating environment with an emphasis on fun”, with prices ranging from £5.75 to £11.75 per child.

A spokesperson told Sky News: “This is the first time anyone has brought this to our attention, so of course because of this we will take it down immediately.

“It was not meant to cause distress and we apologize that this is how they felt.”

According to the centre’s website, Cirencester’s indoor playground offers parents “a range of different play and entertainment areas for your children to get stuck into whilst you enjoy our on-site cafe”.

“Winner of the 2022 Travelers Choice Award, Rugrats is committed to providing a safe, clean and stimulating environment, with an emphasis on fun,” it states.

“In essence, Rugrats and Half Pints ​​is the fun hub you’ve been waiting for.”
