Two reckless drivers were caught speeding at more than 100km/h in the Central Highlands at the weekend.

A motorcyclist was clocked at 151km/h in a 100km/h zone, more than 50% above the speed limit.

The pilot was slapped with a four-month license disqualification and a $1,161 fine.

Meanwhile, another driver was caught speeding at 133km/h in a 100km/h zone.

The driver, who was reportedly on good behavior for previous traffic offences, was given five demerit points and a $606 fine.

Police say the driver will likely lose his driver’s license.

Officers on patrol in the Central Highlands also reported stopping six other drivers for speeding in urban residential areas in Miena and Bothwell over a three-hour period.

“Remember that speeding puts not only your life at risk, but also the lives of other road users and pedestrians,” a Tasmania Police spokesperson said.

“The police… will continue to target this type of crime and it can be anywhere at any time.”
