MailOnline readers had their say following Paul Merson’s elimination.

Here are just some of their comments from our live coverage tonight:

Poor Paul. Personality-wise, he was great, unlike JB and his partner who are both very boring.

It seems this year there is a curse for whoever dances first!

Paulo had a good race! He was the obvious one to leave!

Paul and Karen hit the dance floor for the last time

The other celebrities and professionals rush to hug Paul and Karen, after becoming the last couple to be sent home after the competition.

The former football player took the opportunity to make one last joke, saying: ‘It’s been really good. To anyone I talk to, I would say you have to be on this program. It’s amazing – everyone.

‘There’s a Tottenham fan there called Lincoln and even he’s cool!

The remaining 11 couples will hit the dance floor next week for the Halloween Special.

It’s the end of the road for Paul and Karen!

It’s time to say goodbye to Paul and Karen after the judges decide to save JB and Amy.

Karen tells her partner: ‘You were a joy, I’ve never laughed so hard – my abs are so tight now! You’re what Strictly is about.’

While Paul adds: ‘She’s been amazing, I couldn’t have asked for a better coach. I won because before I couldn’t dance and now I can dance!’

Do you agree with who was sent home?

The judges cast their votes…

Craig is first and despite Paul joking that he was saved, he chooses JB.

Motsi says: ‘JB follows the music. Paul, you had the party of the night, you didn’t make any mistakes, but the music was out, so I’m saving JB’.

Anton says the decision should have been easier, saying ‘JB, you made some mistakes. Paul, if you were clean, I would have saved you, but you weren’t clean, so I’m going to save JB.

Shirley admits she would have agreed, but adds: ‘A couple has made a lot of mistakes, but it’s never over until it’s over.’

Now it’s Paul and Karen!

Paul and Karen go all out once again with their Samba to Car Wash by Rose Royce.

The partners look at the clouds and burst into laughter at the end of the dance.

Will it be their final dance?

JB and Amy are awake!

JB and Amy are the first to dance for their place in the competition with their Jive to Hey Ya! by OutKast.

The duo is full of smiles and does everything they can to stay.

But do you think they did enough?

It’s time for the one and only Sophie Ellis-Bextor!

The singer takes the stage to perform her hit Freedom of the Night!

Now let’s go to the Clauditorium!

Sam is shocked to still be in the competition and reveals that she will have to miss her friend’s wedding.

Texting the couple, she says: ‘Jess, Will, I love you but unfortunately I’m still in Stircly and won’t be there. But I’ll send you some Jagerbombs!

After being the last to be saved, Tasha admits: ‘I got really nervous and started dancing in my head. My lips trembled.

But she gushes over all the comments on social media about her cochlear implant, saying: “Big props to the costume team, they dazzled my implant. I’ve received so many messages from people doing the same and it’s so lovely to see!’

Paul Merson and Karen Hauer are at the dance

Paul admits his disappointment, but adds: ‘It’s about time.’

But Motsi encourages: ‘Be proud of everything you have achieved. You showed men that they can play football and dance samba.

— You took this seriously and that’s what you should do on your day off from prom.

The next couples to be saved by the public are:

It’s time for the judges to give their opinion…

Discussing JB’s ending up at the dance, Craig said: ‘We all agree, he’s absolutely fantastic. It shows that you need to have the audience on your side, as well as being a great dancer.’

Speaking about Chris’s dancing, Motsi explains: “For me, most of the time, it’s about how the contestants leave us feeling. Of course we have dance techniques, but at the end of the day people fall in love with emotions. I saw his face and I saw everything he felt and it’s beautiful to see’.

Dianne reveals what dance Chris will do next week…

The comedian admits that he prefers ballroom dancing, as he calls Latin ‘absurd’.

But Dianne has bad news for her partner and begs him not to hate her as she reveals they will be doing the samba to the Bee Gees track Stayin’ Alive.

As the rest of the group cheers and sings along, a disgruntled Chris jokes, “Well, I’m glad you’re all excited!”

JB and Amy are in the bottom two!

JB Gill and Amy Dowden are the first confirmed couple at the ball, despite scoring 30 points on Saturday.

It’s the first time the pair have finished in the bottom two, but Shirley Ballas gives them some words of encouragement.

She says: ‘I’m very emotional, but you are a very good dancer and all you have to do is repeat what you did, go ahead and have fun because we believe in you!’

Are you shocked that JB and Amy are at risk?
