Israel announces imminent attacks in Lebanon and says it will target Hezbollah’s financial arm

The Israeli military is now targeting Hezbollah’s financial arm with plans to attack “a large number of targets” in Beirut and elsewhere in the very near future.

Hezbollah is the Iranian-backed terrorist militia group based in Lebanon, a country it largely controls.

Israeli military spokesman Rear. Admiral Daniel Hagari says they will issue evacuation warnings for people in parts of Beirut, and “anyone near the locations used to finance Hezbollah terrorist activity will be required to stay away from them immediately.”

The planned attack will target al-Qard al-Hassan, a senior Israeli intelligence official said, according to the Associated Press. It is a registered non-profit organization sanctioned by the US and Saudi Arabia that provides financial services and is also used by ordinary Lebanese.

Al-Qard al-Hassan is a unit of Hezbollah and is used to pay the group’s operatives and help buy weapons, the official added. Israel successfully targeted and killed longtime Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah last month. Hezbollah has fired more than 10,000 rockets into Israel since the Hamas terrorist attack on Israel on October 7 last year.
