How to recreate 5 beauty trends this summer, according to tips and tricks from a makeup artist

Summer is then close, guys. As the weather warms up, the Aperol Spritzes are served, and the festival schedule winds down (Laneway, anyone??) it’s time to reevaluate our makeup routines. While we love our coffee-colored nails and soft red lips for the colder months, there’s a new season in town.

We hire the makeup artist Eleanna Hingston when asking what the top five beauty trends are for spring and summer — and how to recreate them.

1. Makeup with SPF

According to Eleanna, makeup with SPF included is on the rise, “People want to protect themselves and at the same time achieve beautiful skin in the summer”.

Products like The KIND Collective’s new Dreamy Everyday Skin Tint can help achieve a natural, glowing summer look. Includes nourishing ingredients like aloe vera, coconut and avocado oil, jojoba seed and vitamin E to create that second-skin finish.

The easy-to-apply tint can also help protect your skin with SPF30+ included. It’s available in nine shades, and you can achieve this no-makeup makeup look online or in-store at Priceline and Big W.

Eleanna’s tip to complete the look is to apply cream contour, blush and highlighter underneath before applying the SPF shade. For my oily skinned girls, make sure to set it in place with a translucent powder.

People also tend to forget that lips can get sunburned too (myself included) – that’s where The KIND Collective’s Treat Me Lip Balm with SPF 30+ comes in. , jojoba seed and vitamin E.

Treat Me Lip Balm is available in Nudey, Blushing, and Rosey, and the slight hint of color is so Y2K. You can catch them all online or at Big W and Priceline.

2. Sunset colors

You have Hailey Bieber Thank you for making sunset colors popular again, just in time for summer.

“She really rocks those beautiful coral tones,” Eleanna explained.

To recreate the look, opt for a product with a warm tangerine, rosy or peach color. Then apply to eyes, lips and cheeks.

A triple-duty product like The KIND Collective’s High Achiever Complexion Trio is a handy tool to have in your beauty kit, as you can glide it on all three spots. Eleanna’s tip if you really want to shake things up? Mix the colors to create an ombre effect.

3. Pink blush

Sabrina Carpenter took over our FYPs and Spotify playlists this year after their huge summer hit, Espresso. Now, we are also receiving information from the American singer in the beauty department.

“Sabrina is really leading the way with that gorgeous, blushy look,” Eleanna explained.

To achieve this look, choose soft rose petal tones instead of super bright colors. Eleanna’s tip is to apply cream blush to the apples of the cheeks and the bridge of the nose, finishing with a powder blush.

4. Berry Lips and Cheeks

The ’90s burgundy look has been rebranded as a lighter berry color, and we’re not mad about it.

According to Eleanna, “It creates that kind of soft, blurred edge with a hint of red berries. It’s about achieving (an) effortless smudged look.”

Eleanna notes that it’s the ultimate low-maintenance look, as you simply dab the balm product onto the center of your cheeks and lips, then blend with your finger.

“That way, no matter what you eat or drink, it won’t stain as much,” Eleanna explained.

Products like The KIND Collective’s new Hyaluronic Acid Lip and Cheek Moisturizer can help create the look of berry lips. It plumps skin and lips with hyaluronic acid while keeping them hydrated with vitamin E, jojoba and Kakadu plum.

The Lip and Cheek Tint Moisturizer with Hyaluronic Acid is available in the shades Nude Plum, Berry Glow and Classic Blush. Available online or at Big W and Priceline.

5. Pearly skin

You’ve heard of glass skin, but Eleanna says “pearl skin” will be in style this summer.

Described as a mix of dewy and matte, your skin should reflect light but not look oily. It’s a delicate balance, but one that Eleanna notes you can achieve through shine-focused products.

Tyla wore pearlescent skin beautifully to the Met Gala,” Eleanna explained.

To create a subtle, glowy look, Eleanna advised mixing highlighting drops or illuminating primer into your foundation. For my oily skinned girls, don’t worry, I asked the question for you. For our skin type, she advised us to only apply the products to the high points of our face.

Eleanna shared that the highlighter should be a similar tone to your skin, otherwise it can look “unnatural” and that’s not the vibe we’re going for with this look.

I don’t know about you, but I’m feeling inspired. It’s time to start practicing the five makeup looks before summer arrives.
