Strictly Come Dancing fans think a new curse has emerged after another shocking dance.

At the weekend, JLS singer JB Gill and his professional partner Amy Dowden finished in the bottom two in one of the most shocking results of the current series.

The pair found themselves in the middle of the leaderboard after the classic Hey Ya! from Jive to Outkast, and did not gain public support.

They found themselves in the dance contest against Paul Merson and Karen Hauer, with all the judges voting to save JB.

Everyone was shocked by this turn of events, but fans think a worrying pattern is starting to develop.

On Saturday, JB and Amy were the first to perform, while the week before, Shayne – another competition favorite – was in the bottom two after dancing in the same place.

Craig Revel Horwood also noted that both artists ended up falling to the middle of the pack on the leaderboard.

‘It’s crazy how JB danced first last night and at the dance, and Shayne Ward danced first last week and there too. Going first is a curse haha’, said one viewer.

“Going first is a proper curse in this series,” a second person added, while a third fan said: “Voters with goldfish memories once again. Two weeks in a row. The curse of the first.

Another person weighed in: ‘Ah, this is a bit shocking, but I think sometimes opening the show can put you in a risky position. It’s easy to forget the first couple, especially if they end up in the middle of the leaderboard.’

Despite all four judges opting to save JB, Shirley Ballas noted that there were some mistakes, while Anton Du Beke criticized his dancing, insisting that the decision was not as “easy” as it should have been.

Paul, who sang his Samba to Car Wash by Rose Royce, admitted his time on the show was “really good”.

‘It’s amazing – everyone. There’s a Tottenham fan there called Lincoln and even he’s cool,” he added. ‘It’s been amazing, honestly, amazing. I loved every minute of it, I had a great teacher.

And Karen said: ‘You are what Strictly is all about and I want to thank you for bringing so much joy and showing everyone that it is possible with a little bit of work and a lot of laughter.’

Strictly Come Dancing returns Saturday at 6:25 a.m. with the results displayed on the Sunday at 7:20 am BBC One and iPlayer.
