The post reads: “Please keep an eye out and look out for this white Toyota Etios which was involved in an attempted kidnapping yesterday in Grassy Park, there were around four colored men in the vehicle and it was claimed that one of them had his face full of piercings.

“This 13-year-old girl tried to escape to the house of the alleged kidnappers, where she managed to run to the place where the kidnappers were still entering and tried to grab her, but she resisted, kicked one of the boys and that’s when they stabbed her in the head! She managed to get in and that’s when they left.”

Police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Malcolm Pojie confirms that the incident has been reported to the police.

It says: “Grassy Park SAPS has opened a case of attempted kidnapping for investigation following an incident that occurred on Thursday 17 October 2024 at around 1.45pm, Avenue Le Grange, Grassy Park.

“It is alleged that the victim was at the gate of his residence when an unknown suspect appeared from a Toyota that was parked next door and grabbed the victim, during which an altercation occurred.

“The attacker took the victim’s cell phone and when she reacted, he stabbed her in the head with an unknown object.

“He then got back in the car and sped away. The victim went to a hospital for medical treatment. No arrests have been made yet.”

Phillip Bam, of the Grassy Park Community Police Forum, said he was shocked and horrified to learn of the incident.

Bam adds: “It is shocking that criminal elements would target defenseless children and we are grateful that she was able to escape. This incident shows that the criminal element does not care who they target and especially a girl.

“We urge parents to be vigilant and report all suspicious activity in their communities, whether it be occupants of a vehicle or individuals.”
