Thane hit and run – Thane hit and run: Man dead after being hit by Mercedes, getaway driver

A 21-year-old man was killed after being hit by a Mercedes in Thane, Maharashtra, police said on Monday.

The incident occurred in the early hours of October 20th. According to police, the incident occurred when Darshan Hegde was returning home after buying food. The Mercedes, allegedly heading towards Nashik highway, hit him and fled the spot.

The car was later seized by police. However, the accused driver, identified as Abhijit Nair, remains at large.

Authorities are investigating the case and analyzing security camera footage from the area to identify the driver. However, several CCTV cameras in the vicinity were not working at the time of the incident.

The accident occurred near Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde’s residence in Thane.

Similar incidents have been reported recently in upscale areas of Maharashtra where luxury cars have been involved in hit-and-run cases.

In May of this year, a couple in Pune died after being hit by a Porsche driven by a 17-year-old boy, son of a renowned builder in the city.

In another case, a Woman killed in Mumbai after being hit by a BMW. The car was allegedly driven by Mihir Shah, 24, son of a Shiv Sena leader.
