Boston Police Arrest Suspect in Dorchester Shooting Incident

BOSTON, Mass. – A Boston man has been arrested in connection with a shooting incident that occurred last month in Dorchester, according to an update from the Boston Police Department. Officers arrested Marvin Chery, 27, Friday night following a traffic stop in the area of ​​244 Nearly Street.

Chery was taken into custody at approximately 7:58 p.m. by officers assigned to District B-3 (Mattapan). He was wanted on an outstanding warrant issued by Dorchester District Court for multiple charges, including illegal possession of a firearm (second offense), illegal possession of ammunition, attempted assault and battery with a firearm, discharging a firearm at less than 150 meters from a building, and Destruction of Property.

The charges stem from an incident on Sept. 27 when officers responded to a report of gunshots near 468 Harvard Street at approximately 11:16 a.m. Police found ballistic evidence at the scene but reported no injuries.

Chery is expected to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court. The investigation into the September incident is ongoing.
