  • Cohete Suarez’s Skoda Fabia Rally2 is a special edition inspired by the rallies for Spain.
  • It has an ABT-tuned engine with 188 hp, a lowered chassis and sporty details.
  • Only 100 units will be produced, commemorating Cohete Suarez’s titles in the rally.

The fourth generation Skoda Fabia never had the hot hatch equivalent of the VW Polo GTI, despite it serving as the basis for a wild-looking rally car. Still, the latter served as inspiration for the Fabia Rally2, a limited edition subcompact hatchback for the Spanish market, with performance upgrades from ABT Sportsline.

The Skoda Fabia Rally2 was created to pay homage to José Antonio “Cohete” Suárez, an Asturian rally driver who won the Spanish Rally Super Championship (S-CER) in 2021 and 2023. As such, the Fabia Rally2 benefits from an increase in power, making it the most powerful version of the Czech supermini and elevating it to hot hatch territory.

The 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder TSI engine has been tuned to produce 188 PS (140 kW / 190 PS) and 290 Nm (214 lb-ft) of torque. This represents an increase of 39 PS (29 kW / 40 hp) and 40 Nm (30 lb-ft) compared to the original version, made possible by the ABT Sportsline kit. Power is transmitted to the front wheels exclusively via a seven-speed DSG dual-clutch automatic transmission.

In addition to the extra power, the Fabia Rally2 features a sporty chassis, lowered by 15 mm (0.6 inches). It also rides on a new set of 17-inch black OZ Racing Superturismo WRC wheels wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport 5 tires.

The Skoda Fabia Rally2 doesn’t get the wide body kit of the rally cars, but it does feature some sporty touches to set it apart from the rest of the range. The highlight is the Mamba Green paintwork, normally reserved for Skoda RS models. Furthermore, the bright hue matches the Fabia RS Rally2 driven by José Antonio Suárez and Alberto Iglesias Pin in the S-CER championship.

Other motorsport references include the rear spoiler and matte black rear fenders. In terms of badges, there’s an ABT badge on the front fenders, Rally2 and “Cohete” Suarez badges on the tailgate, plus a laurel on the rear pillar, commemorating victories in the Spanish Rally Super Championship.

Inside, there is black seat upholstery, a sports steering wheel with paddle shifters, Rally2 emblem and a numbered plaque with the driver’s signature.

José Antonio “Cohete” Suárez said: “For me it is an honor, I am very excited. Škoda has put my name on a unique model that reproduces the car we compete in and celebrates the victories we achieved with so much effort in the Spanish Rally Super Championship. Without a doubt, a great incentive to repeat the victory this season, both in the drivers’ and manufacturers’ categories.”

The Skoda Fabia Rally2 will be manufactured in 100 units, all reserved for the Spanish market. Predictably, the special edition is the most expensive Fabia ever, costing 30,900 euros ($33,461). The first deliveries will take place in March 2025. Those who order first will be able to join “Cohete” Suárez for a ride in the Fabia RS Rally2, as part of a special event.
