ABK sponsors Child Protection Conference 2024

KUWAIT CITY, October 22: Al Ahli Bank of Kuwait (ABK) proudly announces its sponsorship of the Child Protection Conference 2024, organized by the Kuwait Bar Association. This commitment reflects ABK’s dedication to social responsibility and support for pressing social issues, highlighting its role as a responsible banking and financial institution in the Kuwaiti market.

The conference featured numerous sessions and workshops addressing violence against children and promoting criminal, civil, psychological and international protection for young people.

Numerous participants were present, including the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor, the President of the Kuwait Bar Association and many legal experts, consultants and lawyers. ABK was honored during the conference, which was attended by Dr. Nawaf AlShuraiaan, General Legal Counsel at ABK; Sager Albenali, Communications Director at ABK; and representatives of other sponsoring organizations and participating entities.

On this occasion, Dr. AlShuraiaan said: “Legal protection for all members of society is one of the most pressing social issues in Kuwait and the world. We were, therefore, eager to participate in this conference, fulfilling our responsible role and striving to strengthen our presence in all segments of Kuwait. This is in line with our social responsibility program, which places significant importance on families and children, given their substantial impact on society.”

AlShuraiaan clarified that the theme of the conference is rooted in Article 10 of the Kuwaiti Constitution, which states “The State cares for the youth and protects them from exploitation and moral, physical and spiritual neglect.” This principle is further embodied in the provisions of Law No. 21 of 2015 relating to children’s rights.

The conference will delve into many topics related to child protection and rights, addressing legal recourse for minors facing litigation and exploring psychological and educational safeguards. International experiences in child protection will also be presented.

ABK actively participates in initiatives aimed at improving children’s well-being, including organizing workshops in schools to promote financial literacy, sponsoring celebrations, providing academic materials and inviting employees’ children to learn about banking.

Dr. AlShuraiaan expressed gratitude to the Kuwait Bar Association for hosting this impactful conference, highlighting the significant participation of those dedicated to children’s affairs in Kuwait. He reaffirmed ABK’s commitment to participating in initiatives that promote cooperation between diverse entities to increase social responsibility and address crucial social issues in a constructive manner.

ABK consistently evolves its social responsibility program, sponsoring health, sporting, educational, cultural and technological events, collaborating with public and private institutions to meet the essential needs of all segments of society in the local market.
